The Lighthouse Project

The Lighthouse Project - 17/11/2019

The Lighthouse Project is a small project in Burngreave, based in The Rock building, which does incredible work in the local community.

Lighthouse open up their doors on Friday mornings because they know of local people that are in crisis, perhaps with addiction issues or problems with accommodation and homelessness. People who use the project are able to get hot drinks, a freshly cooked full English breakfast, have a shower and freshen up and access clean clothing from their store.

The team provide advice and support and signpost clients to other services in the city. On a recent visit by the Community Safety Team, DACT and the Soup Kitchen, the team spoke to clients about any issues they had and were able to help a client arrange emergency accommodation and an appointment with a drugs worker the next working day.

This Christmas, the team at the Lighthouse Project are asking people to donate new men’s underwear and new men’s jogging bottoms, in sizes small and medium, as these are the items most in need by people accessing support at their project.
