Ben's Bazaar

Ben's Bazaar - 16/03/2022

Have you heard about the new initiative from the Ben’s Centre team; Ben’s Bazaar

‘Ben’s Bazaar’ has opened on Rockingham Gate (opposite Primark) in the old Plug Box Office and the building has been transformed from an empty shell to a treasure trove, stacked full of interesting bargain finds.

The shop has three floors to explore. When you enter, you will find an information hub, for local people to find out about charity organisations in the city, and for vulnerable people to be signposted to organisations that can help them. This free advertising point is open to all charities or community interest groups that are helping anyone in the city with their health and welfare and the Ben’s Bazaar team is keen to hear from organisations that would like to display leaflets at the information hub. The hub also acts as a base for the Ben’s Centre Outreach team to pop in and get supplies for people they meet out on the streets.

Head on upstairs and find the main attraction, a charity emporium set out over two floors; full of antiques, clothes, homewares and electronics. Many bargains are to be had with items under £1, adult clothing from £2, and plenty of discounts. The main floor stocks goods in great condition as well as premium goods; since the Bazaar opened the team have had brands such as Ugg, Ralph Lauren and Juicy Couture donated!

It’s not all about vintage or second-hand finds! The Bazaar stock many new items in packaging, unworn clothing with tags and handmade wares.  On the top floor you’ll find a bargain room with many items under £1 or at a very low cost.

All the profits from Ben’s Bazaar are redirected back to Ben’s Centre for Vulnerable People. The Day Centre on Wilkinson Street welcomes vulnerable people every weekday for a hot meal and good company. The shop will also act as a work experience programme for Ben’s Centre clients who are ready for the responsibility of a placement in retail and want to gain useful skills to carry them forward into the world of employment.

Donations are also greatly welcome at Ben’s Bazaar. They can accept clothing, toys with a CE mark, small homewares and electricals, sporting goods, books, games, DVDs, CDs, records, comics and more! Volunteering opportunities are also available, so please contact the team if you can spend a little bit of time in the shop, or perhaps have fashion experience and can share your experience.

Ben’s Bazaar is currently open Thursday to Saturday with plans to expand this to Wednesday very soon. The team hopes that the information hub will grow as a place that Sheffielder’s can come for help, support and signposting to services.

More details of the shop, including opening times, can be found on the Facebook page @BensBazaarSheffield or by calling 07957 226349.
